RingSide Network is an American specialty sports channel headquartered in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (USA) with programming devoted exclusively to the sport of boxing. RSN is scheduled to soft launch in 2016 on WMCN . The channel operates a 24 hour per day and 7 day per week schedule. The network will be available across the United States and throughout the world on most cable and satellite providers.

RSN programming intersects all national and international boxing demographics. Programming features up-to-date boxing news, one-on-one interviews, highlights, talk shows featuring boxing celebrities, expert boxing analysts, documentaries, pre-fight and post-fight press conferences, live weigh-ins, round table panel discussions, skills instruction and classic professional fights from the 1920s to the present. Professional programming will include international, national, regional and local telecasts featuring today’s contenders and tomorrow’s champions.

Featured amateur events include Olympic boxing, Olympic boxing trials, National Golden Gloves, National Police Athletic League (PAL) Championships and the U.S. Collegiate Boxing Championships. Finally, the network will air boxing-themed feature length movies such as the Rocky franchise, Raging Bull, the Great White Hope, the Joe Louis Story and the Fighter; among others.

History of Boxing on Television

1931 The first live professional boxing match ever covered on television was broadcast by CBS studios in New York City.
1944 The first televised network sporting event of any kind ever broadcast was NBC’s Gillette Cavalcade of Sports which premiered in 1944. The telecast was a boxing match featuring two future Hall of Fame Boxers Willie Pep and Chalky White for the World Featherweight Championship.
1968 From the 1968 Mexico City Olympiad to the most recent 2012 Olympiad in London, England, one of the three major American broadcast networks ABC, CBS or NBC broadcasted and provided substantial televised coverage of the boxing portion of the Olympic Games.
2015 Ringside Network Launch. The first major American cable and satellite television channel devoted exclusively to the sport of boxing.
